Adidas Originals Series: "The Superstar Issue"
Advertorial
One of the most special things that happened last year was getting the chance to curate a complete issue of the Originals Series by adidas! Having my own paperboats issue and being involved in the whole process was one of the most challenging but also most rewarding jobs I've ever done. So I was major excited when the project went into the next round this year. There were slight changes made to the creation process though. There's not just one person in charge but one for music, one for fashion and one for sports!
Main topic of this issue, (who would have guessed): SUPERSTARS! My favourite sneaker of all times! It might be because I have a thing for colours and if a sneaker comes with 50 different choices of the rainbow scale, there is no way I won't fall for that. Creative mind behind these 50 shades of sneaker awesomeness is Pharrell Williams, one of the most humble superstars of our time!
Very close on the second place is the new collection by Rita Ora for adidas originals. I absolutely love this collaboration, mainly because of girl crush reasons. Nothing yet has topped the black baseball jacket with all the patches on it, but the DRAGON collection is definitely coming close. "DRAGON" is one of four packs that will come next season using the historic dragon figure as it's main element. The "SUPER" pack is an homage to pop art, filled with comic elements that remind of Roy Lichtenstein! The "O-RAY" pack is an actual x-ray scan of Rita's Body herself. Futuristic elements and transparent fabrics are a perfect image of the human body transferred on a piece of clothe. Finally the "WHITE SMOKE" pack which is compared to the other three a lot less colourful. The unusual print makes up for all of that though! I can't wait to see more, especially because I remember a certain bucket hat to be part of the "DRAGON" pack!
"Respect Your Roots" is the headline to an article about the Superstar sneaker being a big part of the skatintg culture. Sometimes sneakers develop their own dynamic and
are being used for something different than originally designed for.
Ending up as a major part of the skating scene the Superstar sneaker had
it's first huge hype during the 90s. Hip Hop being part of the movement
obviously reinforced that!
As usual there is also something in for you! Flipping through the issue you will probably fall in love with more than one outfit, but try to pick your favourite one (every photo marked with a trefoil logo is in the competition). Take a photo of it, post it on instagram using the hashtag: #adidasOriginalsSeries and the @mention: @adidas_de. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
