Girl of the Day: Nyane Lebajoa

Model Portrait

Most of my inspiration theses days comes from discovering new instagram accounts. It's and endless source of amazing people that can lead up to me spending hours searching for them. It's definitely worth it the moment you find people like Nyane Lebajoa. (@nyanelebajoa) The Southafrican blogger is 50% of "NYane & Mpho" a tumblr she does together with her twin sister. Mpho's style is a little more clean and structured which is why I'd rather show you the crazy but unique outfits from Nyane. Besides her obviously amazing closet, she definitely has a thing for hairstyles. I haven't seen a girl pulling of so many different hair dos in a while. Pick you favourite from the photos below and check out interview excerpts from Nyane giving a little insight to where all of her inspiration comes from.

How would you define your personal style?
Very 80s/90s with my own artistic twist to it. I love Madonna and Grace Jones, they are definitely my style icons.

Items to get, what are you searching for right now?
Black 90s bomber jacket, gold nose-to-ear chain, black Gothic Sella Platforms

Are there any colors you tend to shy away from, and if so why?
My least favourite colour is lilac so I tend to stay away from that, but I like every colour because most colours go with our skin tone.

When you hear the term “Black Girl Killing It” what comes to mind?
Grace Jones

What is your greatest fashion pet peeve?
My ‘Black Savannah Koch co. suede leather jacket! Its amazing, it goes with everything!

Have you ever tried your hand at design or sewing?
I do a lot of machine sewing, lately I’ve made quite a few items (leather hot-pants, leather skirt, tie dye top etc.) I’ve also always been able to hand sew but since I have a sewing machine its so much easier and quicker.

Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?
I love 'Charles Anastase' because his Ready to wear is simple but also has a pinch of sophistication and indivisuality. I find that Jeremy Scotts new collection is very similar but more inspired by bloggers. I dont own any of the latest leading designers items but i do own a few items from ‘Clubhouse’ and  'Jade Int' which i love too.

Who are your style icons?
I’m mostly inspired by Mens fashion. I Love 'Léopold Duchemin' He is a model and blogger at #Transgenderchild everything he wears has character and is always on point. Also 'Charles Isherwood' a model, he is always ahead of the game! And of course Grace Jones and ‘TheCapitalofcool- By RhaRha & Zandile’.

Your five must-haves as a girl:
Plain white blouse, black maxi dress, black wedges or platform boots, mens vintage leather jacket, any 80s print blazer.

What are your plans now that you have finished college? -My twin sister and I will start our clothing line and I'm hoping to start recording music!
