Photographer Interview

Street Styles are a great thing, but sometimes it feels like you've seen it all. At least that happens to me when I walk through Berlin sometimes. Cities (may they be as culturally mixed as Berlin) tend to have a similar style, which makes me enjoy foreign street style photography even more. By accident I came across the tumblr of Antonio. Aagdolla show photos from the streets of New York. A whole different vibe, and very colorful combinations. I find everything about those photos so inspiring, that it makes me want to travel there immediately.

Before jumping on planes I decided to go for an interview with Antonio first. Here are a few insights to his thoughts about photography, fashion and style. You can also follow him on facebook or instagram.

Spontaneous or staged?
spontaneous

Do you have a favorite street style photo?
A close up of some great socks (check photo XX).

What makes photographing street styles so interesting?
What makes street photography interesting is seeing the lifestyle as it happens there in the moment.

When did you start and why?
I started taking photographs about a year and a half ago, but doing fashion photography for tumblr only since march 2012. Before I took photos of the scenery in the city and some in Queens where I used to live. The reason I started taking pics of fashionable people is because i went to an tumblr event and was trying to promote myself by giving out my business card. Everyone there had tumblr except for me, so I decided to get into it too.

Anyone you would like to shoot in the future?
I would like to take pictures of Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Beyonce, Rihanna, Jay Z, Snoop Dog and the list goes on.

In front or behind the camera?
Behind the camera because most people don't know how to take photographs of me when I give them my camera. I do like being in front of the camera sometimes though because i think I am photogenic.

Why coming up with a blog instead of a photographer portfolio?
I came up with a blog because I went to an tumblr event and notice it was great for networking my photography to all the kids there.

What blogs do you read?
I seriously don't read any blogs but I need too.

You are based in New York and your street style photos picture a certain type of style...is it what you like personally?
Yeah I personally just take pics of people who I find interesting. Maybe they have a nice hat, nice shirt, nice sneakers or shoes, and probably a pretty face. Not much people have all in one package.

A piece o clothing you have an anecdote to?
Uhm not really. I fell in love with supreme hats when i first bought one in may 2012 and this school year around my friend calls me a hype beat but i am not. I just like their hats because i am addicted to hats and have about 50 hats total from different brands. I think my friend is just messing with me but it is annoying.

First photo you sold (if you sold one)?
Never sold a photo but was about too to one of my classmate this year. I need to ask him if he's still interested.

Favorite photographer?
I don't have one, but I'll never forget Bill Cunningham.

Any city/location you would like to live in the future?
I would love to visit California. Its strange because everyone from the west coast wants to come to New York and everyone from East coast including New York wants to go to California. And I definitely want to travel back to my birth country Guyana (south America) to take some photographs.

Vintage or designer ware?
Either one is good to me and don't mater. Vintage sometimes is good because it can be cheaper than designer ware. I'd probably say designer ware though, since i am not into dressing old school.

Most special piece in your closet?
I really don't have any special piece. I do love a few of my Supreme 5 panel hats. I also like these sneakers I have called Adidas Silver. Cloth wise I have a really nice polo jacket.

Denim or leather?
Leather is in style now so leather

Beanies or base caps?
thats a hard one because i love hats. mmmmmmmm beanies

Magazines or blogs?
magazines

Which magazine would you your photos to be published at?
Interesting question. Vogue or people magazine.

What kind of photography do you want to do in the future? Stick to street style or do something else?

I don't know yet, but it would be nice to do some editorial shots for fashion or something.
