May I introduce: Lou Bones

Model Interview

Some people you just meat in a really random manner. I had an interview and photo session scheduled with Lou before I knew her form y trip to London. Just the day before I stumbled into the KTZ store for another interview with someone else and guess who was standing there. Luckily her recognizing skills were a lot better than mine, but I just love these coincident. Well you might have seen the results from our little grave yard shoot already, and here is the promised interview and a few more details about Lou herself. Definitely one of the most fascinating and sweet people I’ve ever met.

Is Lou you real name or an artist name?
Lou is short for Louise but no one calls me that anymore!

What profession do you work in at the moment?
I'm Assistant Manager at a fashion brand called Kokon to Zai. I also work as a Model and Artist.

How did you get to work for KTZ?
A good friend of mine worked in the company and was aware of my managerial skills so when a position arose she asked me to do a trial, managing the backstage of SS13 Menswear which went well and I joined the company permanently a few months later.

Did you know the label before?
Oh yes! It's been my favourite brand since I became aware of it when I first moved to London 5 years ago. When you where KTZ you feel like your part of a tribe so I felt I was part of KTZ long before I worked for them. I also modelled in a small shoot for their social media earlier in the Summer before I joined.

You've done several model jobs what was the most spectacular one?
I'm waiting on my greatest shoots to come out actually! I did a music video with Ricki Hall for my best mate's band back in Dublin called Wounds, the songs called "Dead Road" and will be out soon. I'm completely in love with the band, the song and the video! I also work closely with an amazing womens wear brand called Nympha (www.nympha.co.uk) who are gonna BLOW UP in 2014! I'm really looking forward to all the shoots I've done with them to come out especially one we did with Photographer Marla Singer who I would describe as a Surrealist. I think this was the most spectacular shoot for me so far as it was more of a creative shoot then a fashion one. That's all I can say, Keep your eyes peeled :)

What do you enjoy more, catwalk or photo shoots?
HA! Unfortunately I can't do catwalk as I'm only 160cm!

Any favorite brands or designers you would like to wear on a shoot once?
I really like Daniel Palillo and Gerlan Jeans, I'd love to shoot for them :)

You also work behind the camera, what do you mainly shoot? why?
All my personal photography is taken on my trips home to Ireland and are nearly always in Autumn or Winter. They are atmospheric landscape shots, sometime including a figure (usually my sister).

Do you shoot digitally or analogue? Why?
Always analogue. I shoot out of date transparency film or black and white then layer or collage the images digitally. I don't do my photography for anyone else but me really, it's quite abstract and I don't expect people to get it or like it, its just something I have to do. There's a raw darkness to Ireland and makes me very calm, that's why I have to go back every now and again.

At the moment you have your hair in a short turquoise bob, how do they used to look originally?
HA! Noooo! My hair is nearly black and in curls like a Victorian doll naturally!

You seem to have a fable for jumpsuits of all kinds, what makes them so perfect?
If I could live in jumpsuits or boiler suits for the rest of my life I'd be eternally happy! I guess as I'm small and a bit of a messer they are perfect, you can dress them up or down using shoes and accessories so easy, I only have four but I can make them smart, casual, cute, industrial, military. I love them and need more, more, more!!!

What is your favourite piece of clothing at the moment?
It's got to be my new Patched Jumpsuit by GashWorld which is a wicked brand run by a very good friend of mine from Korea. (www.gashworld.com)

If you could swap closets with anybody (dead or alive) for one day, who would that be?
Gwen Stefani! She's an idol. I grew up on Ska and Punk, Sublime, No Doubt and Nofx. She's as beautiful and charismatic now as she ever was and I've always looked up to her style even from the very beginning.

Next buy in 2014?
A new Mac Book Pro, Unif Salems and lots and lots of KTZ SS14!!!

You've been working in the art scene before switching to fashion...are the equally superficial? What did you enjoy more? Why?
I guess I just need to be creative to keep my mind happy, if that's in Art or Fashion I don’t mind. The main difference is in Art you deal with lots of eccentric, egotistical mentalists but most of the time they are fully aware that how they are being and relish in the fact. In Fashion they are, shall we say, slightly more removed from reality! Either way I love them all and it's great experience learning to deal with it. I love meeting new creative people whatever their background and hope I continue to do so for a very long time :)
