Personal Superstar
Advertorial
Andy Warhol once said: "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes". He probably wasn't aware, how on point he would be with this statement. In the era of facebook, instagram, youtube, casting shows and the internet in general, it's never been easier to get a little fame. But that's definitely not what a superstar is all about.
adidas seems to have the same vision and declares a very different image of a superstar. The campaign video states that a #Originalsuperstar isn't someone who counts views, who follows trends, who needs to prove anything or simply isn't what you think. For this video adidas recruited four well known faces from the adidas family! Girlcrush and singer Rita Ora, musical genius Pharell Williams, soccer legend David Beckham and basketball pro Damien Lillard represent the branches music and sport! Everyone is shown in their work environment, but also in a world they seem to escape to in their private life. I think it's a a great selection, as all artists have a history with the brand, which makes the video very authentic.
I like how the "superstar" sneaker, the actual product, is hardly ever mentioned or shown. But I personally am very happy that adidas has dedicated a whole year to this shoe as it used to be my favourite sneaker during my teenage years and my mum would refuse to buy me a pair. Well now, I'm definitely going to make up for it.
Getting back to the subject matter "Superstar"... Obviously you get inspired by personalties that have achieved something special, and some of them happen to be famous. But there are just as many superstars within you're surrounding or in you're every day life. There are many people I like for their work, but I especially admire those who work behind the scenes and hardly ever get all the credit they deserve! One of them being Kira Aurelie! Editor in chief of INDIE magazine and MATERIAL GIRL magazine. I've seen her around, long before I ever dared to talk to her. Rainbow coloured hair, a weird style (who would turn up in dungarees to a press dinner - LOVED THAT) and something to herself that made me really shy! Now a few years from the first time met her, I have no idea how I was ever intimidated!
It takes a while to get to her, but once you manage it is so worth it. I've never met anyone I could work with as well as with Kira. Thinking of the same 90s boy crush at the same time, having the exact same movie in mind or being equally excited about a new instagram find. At the same time we still have a slightly different opinion about most issues, which helps to not get stuck.
I've always admired it if friends can share a business or work together (best example: Nike & Sarah from "This Is Jane Wayne"), but I just never found anyone that floated on the same strange rainbow wave as I, and it means the world to me that Kira does! Although being the older one she manages to leave a party last and turn
up fresh as a cookie for a business meeting the next morning.
Supernatural talents... I wouldn't know any other explanation. Hardly anyone knows the workloads she puts up with, managing two magazines, their online presence and all the administration work that comes with it. Never pushing to the spotlight, always being far too humble for all she does, and totally underestimated by many. If I become something like her in a few years, that's all I can ask for. GIRLCRUSH forever!
