Pixel Event Berlin
Advertorial: Google
With Google you can search for something... you can check your emails... watch videos on youtube... but google was never something you could own or hold in your hands - until now! Last week google launched it's first very own phone" und „first piece of hardware ever #madebygoogle. The new baby goes by the name "Pixel" and is a high quality smartphone ready to be the greatest competition apple has to fear! (At least that is my opinion). I've usually never been a big fan of android phones, because nothing has convinced me enough. As a photographer the camera tools are obviously the most important to me and how awesome to hear that the Pixel actually has the best smartphone camera out there! I made immediate use of that and snapped my way around through the amazing launch event held in Berlin.
The whole thing was held at the König Galerie and a combination of different events. The evening started out with a little intro about the schedule of the night and what to expect. They also revealed a few facts about the phone before everyone in the room actually got one. Besides the already mentioned camera (12,3 mega pixel) it also has a battery that lasts a whole day and charges the equivalent of up to 7 hours in only 15 minutes! Last but not least the phone also comes with a personal google assistant activated by your voice. After testing out all these features our host of the night Wana also introduced the artists that where exhibiting to the google theme #limitlessme. They all developed ideas and pieces evolving around the idea of #limitlessme and a lot had to do with thinking outside of the box, breaking borders, trying something outside of your comfort zone. To me it mainly means having the freedom to do certain things. Not having to be afraid of punishment for expressing myself in the way I do. I think that is sadly still a luxury in this world and something you should strive for but never take for granted.

Artits from the fields of art, music, fashion and design! One of my favorites being the „Infinity Pencil“ by Tony Futura and the unisex fashion designs for all occasions of the day by William Fan. After photographing my way through the exhibition it was time for a set dinner and as all of this wasn't already enough there was a special surprise for everyone who stayed until the end. Super girl ABRA gave a stunning performance and after that I just dropped into the next cab.
One thing I almost forgot, although I had the most fun with it was a light installation by monomango studio. According to your steps and your movement it changed the colour of light and the frequency by which those colours changed. Everything was built up on a mirror floor which gave us the most awesome possibilities to snap pictures. It also illustrated the limitless amout of smace you all of the sudden had. You couldn't see any edges or boundaries. I thought that was a very clever approach to the theme of the night. I hope you enjoy some of the photos below and make sure you get your hands on a Pixel. Even if it's just for trial, the phone will do the last bit of convincing all by itself.
