Tropical Christmas
Advertorial: Desigual
Maybe it's because I spend the last five weeks in tropical Thailand, maybe it's just because I'm a Grinch, but this thing people call Christmas feeling is just not happening for me. At least not in the traditional way! I don't need snow, Santa or cheesy "last Christmas" playing everywhere. I rather want a little bit of that laid back summer spirit back. Why not combine what I like from both extremes. Easy said, easy done. The thing I attach most to tropical places are palm trees. My all time favourite plants (they even top cacti). It's just a pity that those beauties don't seem to like it very much in frosty Berlin. So I searched all of eBay to find my self a big enough plant that would meet my tropical Christmas expectations. It took a while but then I had someone drive my new palm tree (and while at it also a banana plant) all the way from south Germany to Berlin. CHECK to part one! Next in line was the right lights. I'm hopeless when it comes to candles, seriously in danger of burning my whole place down. So instead I went for LED lights that take so little energy that I can basically keep them on 24/7. My cacti mixed into this botanical dream made for a hell of a cosy plant corner. To have a least a tiny bit of Christmas spirit I added a few presents and et voila, my perfect little Christmas scenario.

But that's obviously not all. Next step, the perfect compromise of a tropical Christmas outfit. The flared black pants by Desigual have super long cuts which make them swing around your legs and I just imagine myself walking down a beach in those. On the other hand they also look really festive as the material falls perfectly. I combined it with an old palm tree top I still had to basically merge into the background. And if those LED lights happen to get to bright, my shades are definitely not far.
Last but not least the element of music. I've created my very own "Christmas" playlist for you guys. It contains the typical hits like "Thank God it's Christmas" by Queen but also summer smash hits like "High by the Beach" or "California here we come". Who ever said those don't fit on one playlist definitely has no idea!
At the very end I also came up with a few ideas for next season to extend this whole tropical Christmas thing a little bit. Did you know there were mermaid Christmas tree balls? Neither did I, but now I definitely want them! Obviously! Also how good is the advent wreath consisting of cocktail umbrellas! Stunner! I might also need a surf board simply for the matching light decoration. If you have any additional ideas, shoot me a message. I'm also curious if I'm the only one who enjoys Christmas a little different or what you guys might do to mix it up a bit!
