A week in New York
I thought after spending a month in NY earlier this year that this would be it at least until next year... but give me an opportunity and I'll gladly except it. New York is always a good idea and I already missed my people there and all the amazing food places, shops, markets etc.
So when Desigual invited me to their show presented at New York Fashion Week and even offered to pay for my flight and accommodation I didn't even have to think for a second. I've seen there show regularly during Barcelona Fashion Week but not once since they have moved to New York. They also promised it would be something very unique and different this time due to a collaboration with Jean-Paul Goude.

But from the beginning... our trip started by being cancelled thanks to airberlin! So we had a late start of two days as it was impossible to get any replacement flight before that. That only gave us one night at the airbnb instead of three. Right the next day we moved to the PUBLIC hotel for our stay with Desigual. The hotel was super central, very hipster chic, definitely great breakfast even if a prices where a little outrageous for a small avocado sandwich. It was delicious though. You also stumble across all sorts of famous people that happened to stay there. I missed most of them and kept wondering what all the paparazzi were doing in front of the hotel.
Stumbled upon this beauty while walking through our hotel neighbourhood and talked her into a little shooting the next day. Make sure to check out her instagram: @penelopestarz

Among the many food places we checked out during our stay this was one of my personal highlights. Not just the interior but the complete focus on Matcha had me addicted to it from day one. Chacha Matcha is located in Lower Manhattan / Soho (373 Broome St, New York, NY 10013, USA) and definitely worth a visit! Special tip: Try the Matcha-Pineapple Swirl ice cream!
You got to love instagram for meeting so many special people. Contacted by this beauty @missmakeena we met up for a a portrait shoot for @crownsproject. Amazing girl and we had great fun avoiding street style photographers and checking out Chelsea Piers.
On the day of the show we were taken to the location and I got to witness something completely unexpected. Although having googled the artist before hand I was caught by surprise. Incredible love to detail when it comes to styling, an amazing choreography, very "untypical" Desigual designs that seemed to be the perfect marge of the brand and the artist. Far less floral prints but great alternatives. I have honestly never seen a show by the brand that made me want to pre-order so many pieces. Definitely an experience!
My absolute highlight of the whole day was the dinner at the end though. The setting was a rooftop in dumbo / garden / perfect wedding location. With a view over the skyline of Manhattan surrounded by freshly planted vegetables and sunflowers it felt like a movie scene. To top it all of we arrived at sunset and then got to enjoy an amazing dinner including a little concert. It was definitely one of my absolute favourite moments I ever experienced in New York.
After this amazing time with the whole Desigual team, I added a few more days to the trip so we got to enjoy the weekend in NY before heading back to Berlin. That also meant moving to a new airbnb apartment. Located in West village we were staying at a lady hat maker place which was breath taking. I photographed every inch of her apartment and will show you all those photos later this week. One of the most unique and incredible airbnbs I've ever got to stay in.
